In its first week, Wonder Woman successfully increased directly to the top of the Box Office this week. Following the animated film Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie.
Wonder Woman successfully topped the Box Office chart this week. The film, adapted from DC Comics earned revenue of USD100, 5 million in its first week in theaters. This is beyond the initial expectations of a production team that only hopes to reach USD80 million to USD90 million.
However, Wonder Woman’s position is still in the back when compared to other DC movies, such as Suicide Squad which earned $ 133.7 million in the first week of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice who earned USD166 million in its first week
The film, starring Gal Gadot has a percentage of audience that is 52 percent sourced from female audience and 48 percent of male audience. Jeff Goldstein, head of Warner Bros. distribution, expressed his opinion on this.
“This shows that superhero movies are not just about men, but also about women,” says Jeff.
Being second on Box Office charts is Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie. The film earned revenue of USD23, 5 million in its first week. Previously, the film made by 20th Century Fox and DreamWorks Animation is an initial capital of USD20 million.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales was third on the Box Office chart in its second weekend. The second week on the big screen adds an income of USD21, 6 million and make the total income domestically for USD114, 6 million and USD501, 2 million internationally.
Meanwhile, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 down two ranks to position 4. The film has recorded an interest of USD355, 4 million domestically and USD816, 6 million internationally.
Being in fifth position is Baywatch, a film adapted from the TV series of the 90’s only managed to reap a profit of USD8, 5 million in the second week. This amount makes the total revenue received Baywatch so far is USD41, 7 million domestically.
